Your Future Therapist Who Gets It

Sometimes life feels like you're juggling flaming torches while riding a unicycle and that's on a good day. Abigail Isacoff understands this better than most. As a Marriage and Family Therapist Practicum Student at Clear Mind Counseling, she brings a unique blend of educational expertise, personal resilience, and genuine warmth to every session.

Education & Training

Abigail's academic journey reflects her commitment to understanding people from every angle. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from UNLV (2013-2020), followed by a Master of Science in Educational Psychology (2020-2022). Currently, she's completing her Masters of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University Worldwide, with graduation set for spring 2025.

What Makes Abigail Different

Here's the thing about Abigail—she's lived enough plot twists for several lifetimes, which means she truly gets what it's like when life feels overwhelming. Her background as an educator gives her a special superpower: she knows how to meet people exactly where they are developmentally and emotionally. Whether you're 8 or 80, neurodivergent or neurotypical, she approaches each person with the individualized care they deserve.

"I've worked with so many different people as a teacher," Abigail shares, "that I feel like there's nothing I haven't come across, though I know that's probably a bold thing to say!" This exposure has prepared her to handle whatever walks through her office door with confidence and compassion.

Her Therapeutic Approach

Abigail describes her style as warm, client-centered, and collaborative. She's currently exploring different therapeutic modalities while developing expertise in trauma-informed care, with a growing focus on supporting neurodivergent clients, particularly those navigating ADHD or Autism Spectrum Disorder. She's also expanding her toolkit with evidence-based practices like EMDR and DBT.

"I believe in meeting people where they are," Abigail explains, "helping them recognize their strengths, set meaningful goals, and move forward in ways that feel true to who they are."

Current Focus Areas

  • Trauma-informed care

  • Life skills development for neurodivergent clients

  • ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder support

  • Working with children and young women facing ongoing challenges

  • Evidence-based practices including DBT and EMDR

Her Why

Abigail's path to therapy wasn't traditional, but it was intentional. After experiencing her own seasons of struggle without adequate support, she made a promise: no one should have to face their challenges alone. She started as a teacher to build that foundation of showing up for others, then continued her education to become the consistent, steady presence she wished she'd had during her own difficult times.

When She's Not in Session

Learning is Abigail's favorite hobby (she'd be a forever student if it weren't so expensive!), so you'll often find her diving into research and exploring new topics. When she's not surrounded by books, she's spending quality time with family and friends, plus her two attention-loving puppies a mini goldendoodle and a Chihuahua mix who ensure there's never a dull moment at home.

Her Philosophy

"Therapy won't magically solve everything, but it gives you a safe space to slow down, be honest, and explore all sides of what you're facing. What you put into it really shapes what you get out of it."

Looking Ahead

Abigail's long-term vision includes specializing in EMDR and DBT while potentially opening a private practice that feels safe, empowering, and inclusive for all. Her goal remains constant: to continue learning, stay curious, and be the kind of therapist who truly makes people feel seen and supported.

A Message for You

"Therapy can be an intimidating journey to begin, but once you find a therapist you truly connect with and feel safe around, it becomes an empowering and transformative experience. Committing to that process brings a deep sense of accomplishment, one that's personal, meaningful, and completely yours. It's something no one can ever take away from you."

Abigail Isacoff is currently completing her clinical practicum hours and is supervised by licensed professionals at Clear Mind Counseling. She is accepting new clients and looks forward to being part of your journey toward healing and growth.
